Why do many Pastors die young?

In the past few days, a couple of pastors I know have gone to glory in their prime. While many may say many things from the spiritual angle only, I resist the temptation of being naive and gullible.
– One died going to drop his members after Sunday service. He probably died due to over-exhaustion of his health.

– Post activities exhaustion led to fatigue and accident that took the life of one of the most handsome young vibrant zealous man of God I know in Ghana.

– A Nigerian female Pastor slumped and died in the United States and her host couldn’t even try to connect the family because they can’t afford the $,5000 morgue fee. They allowed the govt to set her for mass burial if not for a friend in USA that alerted us two days before and effort was made to trace her family in Lagos by my friend – after many inquiries.
CAUSE: Pressure and failed hope.

– Another died in his sleep after Friday night vigil. If he had taken adequate care of his health, maybe he will still be alive by now.

=> The story never ends.

– Another died because none was available to help, even the members he burnt his life for and the so called ministers and spiritual sons and daughters were no where to be found in his hours of needs.

>>Most of these people are Bishops with good standing, viable ministries and graduates from good universities.

We conducted mild medical examinations for some Pastors after one of our meetings few years ago, about 200 pastors participated. I Insisted that no minister above 40yrs of age will leave without being evaluated by the medical team, except those in their twenties and early thirties.
The result was mind bugling,
– over 30% had a elevated bp within 180 systolic 90 diastolic.
– 15 had extreme high bp above ,200/120.
– 28% had diabetics,
– 16% had elevated PSA,
– blood cultures done, showed that:
= over 60% had different levels of bacteremia. = Psychological analysis revealed that
– over 7O% had emotional problems they could not share with anyone.
= Urine analysis and smear tests were not friendly either.
= Eye examinations shows levels of deficiency and stress induced factors.

***Most of these pastors never know they had these problems… That is the sad part of the news.

>They were the walking corpses physically even though spiritually alive
>They are dead emotionally.
>Their vision and passion is dead.
>Their spiritual life has little life at all.
>They are burnt out.
>Many have died vocationally.
>Others are waiting for burial.

Autopsies is not a pleasant topic, I get that, but I would be negligent if I did not share with you about the numbers of pastors who are dead in the ministry.
You need to know.
You need to grasp this reality.
You need to pray for them.
You need to walk alongside with them.

My figurative autopsies uncovered eight common patterns.
Some pastors manifest four or five of them. Many manifest all of them.

1. They said “YES” to too many members.
In order to avoid conflict and criticism, these pastors tried to please most church members. Their path was not sustainable. Their path was unhealthy, leading to death.

2. They said “NO” to their families.
For many of these pastors, their families became an afterthought or no thought at all. Many of their children are now grown and resent the church.
They have pledged never to return. Their spouses felt betrayed, as if they were no longer loved, desired, or wanted. Some of these pastors have lost their families to divorce and separation.

3. They got too busy to remain in the Word and in prayer. Simply stated, they got too busy for God. Read Acts 6:4 again in the context of all of Acts 6:1-7. The early Church leaders saw this danger, and they took a courageous path to avoid the trap.

4. They died a slow death from the steady drip of criticisms.
Pastors are human. Yeah, I know; that’s an obvious statement. We sometimes expect them to take the ongoing criticisms from members as if they were rocks. But a steady drip can destroy even the most solid rocks.

5. They were attacked by the cartel.
Not all churches have cartels, but many do.
A church cartel is an alliance of bullies, bully-followers, carnal Christians, and even non-Christians in the Church. Their goal is power. Their obstacle is the pastor.
Many pastors have died because cartels killed them.

6. They lost their vision and their passion. This cause of death is both a symptom and a cause.
Like high blood pressure is a symptom of other problems, it can also lead to death. Pastors without vision and passion are dying pastors.

7. They sought to please others before God. People-pleasing pastors can fast and easily become dying pastors. The problem is that you can never please all the members all the time. If Pastors try, they die.

8. They had no defenders in the church. Imagine a dying person with no medicare (medical intervention). That person will die. Imagine Pastors without members who will stand by them.
Imagine Pastors where members are too cowardly to stand up to cartels. If you can imagine that, then you can imagine a dying Pastor.
By the way, this form of death is often the most painful. The Pastor is dying without anyone to help or intervene.

9 They died as a result of pressure to be like others.
Travel around the world, have a big cathedral, be announced by God, be popular and live in affluence, competing with one another or others they have no idea about their stories.
They allowed wide mouthed intimidators make them feel they are failures without telling them the true stories behind their presumed success.
They burnt-out and it took a toll and caused their death.
They lost the simple rule of ministry that God gives to everyman that – size and miracles are not indicators of good success before the Master.
The letters to the Churches in Revelation showed it clearly.

10 They died because they gave room to ignorance, ego, and unwillingness to take advantage of opportunities God provided to help and enlighten their life.
They succeeded in Church but failed their health and spiritual health because they over-evaluated their status.

11. Some are killed by their fellow Pastors, who added nothing to them but negativism. Increased their conflicts and inflicted more injury to their wound.
Don’t invite a guest from afar if you have no plans for them. You break their hope and add more frustrations to the existing ones.

You have associates, you live big while they scratch to survive with their families. What you added killed them. Because they felt used, neglected and abandoned.

=> Autopsies are not fun. Talking about dying is not fun.
But if you are a Church member, or a Senior rich selfish ego exhibiting, exaggerating Pastor, you can be a part of the reasons why Pastors are dying because of your unwillingness to be sensitive and to do the right things.

. *Pastors have a tough job. They get more kicks than kisses. If a pastor is young, he lacks experience; if he’s grey–haired, he’s too old. If he has five kids, he has too many; if he has none, he’s setting a bad example. If his wife sings in the choir, she’s being forward; if not, she’s not dedicated enough. If he preaches from notes, he’s dry; if his words are impromptu, he’s too shallow. If he spends too much time in his study, he’s neglecting his people; if he makes home visits, he’s not a good time manager. If he’s attentive to the poor, he’s after public approval; if he attends to the wealthy, he’s ingratiating. If he suggests improvements, he’s a dictator; if he doesn’t, he has no vision. If he uses too many illustrations, he neglects the Bible; if he doesn’t use enough stories, he’s unclear. If he speaks against wrong, he’s legalistic; if he doesn’t, he’s a compromiser. If he preaches for an hour, he’s windy; less than that, he has nothing to say. If he preaches the truth, he’s offensive; if he doesn’t, he’s wishy–washy. If he fails to please everybody, he’s hurting the church; if he tries to please everybody, he has no convictions. If he preaches tithing, he’s a money–grabber; if not, he’s failing to develop his people. If he receives a large salary, he’s mercenary; if he doesn’t, it proves he’s not worth much. If he preaches on a regular basis, people get tired of hearing the same person; if he invites guest preachers, he’s shirking his responsibility. Wow! And you thought your pastor had an easy life! How’d you like to change places?
Bottom line: love your pastor

Your Greatest Enemy

Who killed Samson? Delilah or the Philistines? None of these options is correct. Permit me to tell you how

Even if there were 10,000 Philistine soldiers, they couldn’t have defeated Samson. Do you know why? Samson’s strength was not of this world; it was divine. As long as no one can defeat God, no army could have defeated Samson no matter how strong or many

Samson was raised a terror for the Philistines. He killed a lion with his bare hands, lifted the gate of a city on his shoulder and walked over 46 miles; he killed 300 Philistines soldiers with a jaw bone. What if he got a spear or sword?

So, who killed Samson? The answer is Samson. Yes! Samson killed himself! A man is his greatest enemy. What an enemy cannot do to a man, he would do to himself. Samson killed himself. He delivered himself to the lap of Delilah and used his own mouth to tell the secret of his power. His life promised so much but delivered so little

The Bible says, “People ruin their lives by their own stupidity, so why does GOD always get blamed?” (Proverbs 19:3. MSG)

Nobody can ruin your life except you do with your own hands. Although you can blame it on God or parents or government, you’re the architect of your life; you are your greatest enemy. Even if your grandparents had done any evil, until you press the trigger it won’t explode on your face

No Satan or witch has the power to destroy you no matter how much they hate you, you’re the only one who can kill yourself by your actions

When the enemies try in vain to kill you, they lie in wait and allow you to kill yourself by your actions.

Goliath, the champion couldn’t hurt David but adultery destroyed his family. The gentile nations couldn’t hurt Moses, but anger killed him. When king Jeroboam stretched his hand against the prophet, his hand dried up; he couldn’t hurt him, but his own disobedience turned him to a prey for a lion. Your greatest enemy isn’t outside there, it’s in you

Millions are killing themselves with their own mouth by what they eat and drink. Millions die of sexually transmitted diseases every year. Would you blame a witch for that?

Hundreds of thousands of divorce and breakup happen every year because people destroy their own marriages and homes with their own hands. Like Proverbs 14:1 says “Every wise woman builds her house, but the foolish one tears it down with her own hands.

If you fail, don’t look far away, look inwards because what’s killing you is inside of you. What you yield yourself to will either kill or save you. If you continue yielding yourself to fornication, that’s what will kill you both spiritually or physically

Everyone has a seed of sin deposited in him through his Adamic nature. True repentance kills that seed but if you don’t kill that anger, pride, jealousy, greed, lust, it won’t just kill you in the future, it might have been killing you already. That’s why no matter how much people die of cancer and diabetics people won’t stop smoking and drinking because a man signs his own death warrant.

Pls,think of an area in your life that you need GOD to work on&cry to HIM today. HE IS ABLE TO HELP US TO BECOME THE BEST HE WANTS US TO BE.
Kill that seed before it kills you. Quit that habit, now! Because your greatest enemy isn’t a man or a spirit or Satan but you. Yes, You!

God bless you

Temptations Have a Mission

Some people think GOD is actually the one tempting them…
James 1:13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: 1:14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

So, due to their ignorance of their strength in Christ or unwillingness to resist the lust and tricks of the devil, they eventually fall into the temptation… And start to defend themselves saying they couldn’t control themselves, that it was too much for them.
Here’s, what GOD says to them

1 Corinthians 10:12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

So, the faithfulness of GOD establishes a way of escape.
Your self sufficiency and ignorance stops us from embracing the way of escape provided.
You see, the beauty of temptations is when you’re able to actualize the Victory of JESUS and shame the insincerity of lusts.
James 1:2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
1:3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

You see this,
So stop thinking that temptation is stronger than you are or that problem is more Authentic than your faith.

And begin to lay hold of your faith thereby Manifesting the Victory of Christ.
1 Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

So what’s the temptation’s mission
To assist you in proclaiming the Victory of CHRIST

Give GOD all the glory.

Don’t mishandle the Scepter of Challenges

Many at times in life
We encounter challenges that desire our life
We hang on a line, trying not to look feeble
We generally identify this Encounter as pure evil

We ignore the importance of enemies in our life
We frown at the advantage of failures and smile
We use our moments of ease as a yardstick to measure our growth
Like, Life was a bed of roses in a speed boat

We forget that A Valiant warrior is a Victor of deadly challenges
We forget that..it takes scars to authenticate an inspiring story
We neglect the fact that it takes real Challenges to keeps us on fire
We underestimate the Excellence of a Victorious Life

Sons and Daughters of GOD..
Being a child establishes one fact in you..
The fact that… You never lose, you either win or learn.

A General that doesn’t have scars lacks the ability to train people, like who has scars.

Challenges in life are not an endpoint to your progress and success, they are only hurdles you have to jump without feeling helpless.

1 Peter 4:12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: 4:13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.

Oh…LORD… I thought you said am a success… WHY DID I FAIL?

You didn’t read your books when you were supposed to

Now, the HOLY SPIRIT has directed you to go and pray…

You ignore, because you realised you’ve not read your books…

All these happen, just because of indiscipline in certain aspects of our life

You then fail the exam you read just 2 days for…

You begin to blame the HOLY SPIRIT for not granting you the success you couldn’t pay the price for

Another thing is you surrendering your BRAIN to HIM…

That’s an access point to reading with ACCURACY AND DIRECTION

Stop confessing words like “I’ll soon forget”, “My brain isn’t as good as yours”, “Am someone that has to read over and over again”

Don’t you know that you have the MIND OF CHRIST, that’s the intellectual faculty of the Most HIGH.

I was once in these shoes…

Until I received the Revelation that as you can speak to sicknesses and they’ll leave… I can speak to my Brain and it has no choice rather than to obey me..

It’s the WORD OF GOD concerning me

Philippians 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ

1 John 5:20: And we know that the Son of GOD is come, and hath given us an Understanding, that we may know HIM that is true

So, stop living a life void of discipline, STRENGTHEN YOUR COMMITMENT TO GO AND FELLOWSHIP WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT, substitute your ideology with that of GOD,

Share to everybody you think needs this message

And don’t forget to check other posts on this blog… they’ll bless you real much.

There’s a disease that’s eating fast into the body of Christ…
It’s called INSTABILITY in a particular Local Assembly…

We have many local assemblies today,

worldwide… The likes of The Redeemed Christian Church of GOD, C.O.Z.A. Winners Chapel, H.I.C.C. and so many others…

So we have Christians that attend this today, and attend another next week, then a powerful Programme is organized in another one, they go there, one minister comes the upcoming week into an entirely different one… They jump there…
And they have serious reasons for their actions…
This write-up is not aimed in any way to castigate them…
But, to establish a Balance..
The Bible says:

Hebrews 13:7 Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation.

Meaning, our pastors speak the WORD OD GOD to us….and we should follow their faith provided the end of their conversation is validated by the identity and signatures! of JESUS CHRIST… The author and fini……faith…
That means we shouldn’t follow blindly

13:9 Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein.

This means that… Doctrines are capable of acting as transport mediums in the realm of the spirit,
It also tells us that….not all meats are good or necessary for consumption….

It establishes the importance of direction in the Christian faith

Each local assembly is a cover on its own for it’s members, you are meant to have a specific man of GOD you follow, and some few others you listen to….not every fire pastor that evolves…

Because, you can only be bred by consistency in a place….

Doctrines are like portals that move us into dimensions of the spirit…

So, by the time you start to move from one doctrine to another, It’s like you’re moving into different starting points that wove in different manners and techniques…
It like going to a bus stop and entering different vehicles one after the other…

Never letting one take you to your destination…

I know you love GOD but sit down somewhere and learn with consistency and Direction.

It pays to be sober in the Spirit…

There was such a dimension of WISDOM JESUS CHRIST operated in when he was on earth, a level that left *Roman Soldiers* on Duty unsure of what to do.
That’s the stand point Level of WORD OF WISDOM we should desire to walk in, not the one that causes people to say “HMMMM” and still return home unconvicted.

The gift of the WORD OF WISDOM is something that’s accessible to all Christians and is meant to be manifested by all Christians, especially in the present situation of this WORLD.

It’s the ability to speak the right WORD for any situation per time, it’s a Manifestation of the Intelligence of the Most High. Such that, you make use of the WORD so specifically to eliminate difficulties and societal confusions.

A Manifestation of the Spirit that will never ceases to always make people want to hear you.

Yes, a dimension of WISDOM that exposes the inefficiency and weakness of Human intellectual prowess.

You better desire it today.

Because there are situations where YES and NO would get you into trouble!!
